Hereditary Chief Phil Lane Jr. is an enrolled member of the Ihanktonwan Dakota and Chickasaw Nations and an internationally recognized leader in human, community, and economic development. A tireless advocate for promoting freedom and justice for Indigenous Peoples, Chief Lane received the Year 2000 Award for Freedom and Human Rights in Berne, Switzerland in recognition of his “unique and visionary international initiatives for Indigenous populations through healing the root causes of hopelessness and despair.” Among his countless achievements, Chief Phil was one of the key Indigenous leaders in facilitating the resolution of Canada's Residential School issue. Chief Phil is a co-founded of the Four Worlds International Institute (FWII), dedicated to the Union of the Condor, Hummingbird, Quetzal and Eagle. He believes that we are all Indigenous to Mother Earth and he is honored to partner with Shamans Directory as an Ambassador for peace on earth and healing for our one human family.
