Join Shamans Directory Ambassador, Yeye Luisah Teish and friends for a magical Solstice weekend honoring the sacred Water Spirits and the rich traditions of the African diaspora.

Through ritual, storytelling, music, and altar-building, this gathering will reconnect us with the wisdom of Yemaya, Olokun, Mami Wata, and the many water deities who guide communities from West Africa to Brazil, Haiti, and the Southern United States.

The festival begins on Friday 19 December, with the creation of a Water Spirit altar and traditional songs of praise. Yeye Teish will then lead The Waterways Workshop, a rich exploration of Winter Solstice customs from around the world, with a special focus on African and Afro-diasporic traditions.

Saturday 20 December, The Day Her Belly Burst, invites participants into mythic stories of watery realms across Africa and the Caribbean. Attendees are encouraged to wear regalia celebrating their connection to Water and to bring a small instrument for the journey.

The weekend will close on Sunday 21 December, with An Awán for Olokun, a powerful cleansing ritual to release the old year and enter Winter renewed, protected, and spiritually grounded.
